This is a substantial new country house, set in a picturesque Cotswold valley. The scheme was permitted under planning policy PPS7, which allows for exceptional new houses to be built in the open countryside.
The house is designed in the characteristic ‘Queen Anne’ style, although with atypically tall proportions, which works to give the house a unique quality, especially when viewed from across the valley. The property appears as if it has always been there.
The scheme also involved the design of the interiors and the immediate formal garden. It was important to consider all these elements together to ensure a well-round and fully-considered design.
