Project 1909

This is a small apartment in an exclusive area of London. Our clients live in the house opposite and the brief for the project was to provide extra, self-contained guest accommodation for visiting friends and relatives. The flat was rather dated, with a tiny kitchen, leaking bathrooms and spaces which didn’t really work. The whole internal space was reworked, with a view to making a practical, attractive, up-to-date and light filled interior. Working with the client we agreed a design brief that was to be inspired by the fashion house Chanel, indeed the client's Karl Largerfeld sketches are displayed on the walls.

The apartment incorporates a glamorous formal seating and dining area. A sliding door can display or conceal the sleek minimal kitchen, a new staircase leads to a mezzanine level which has a dual purpose, acting as both a study and a cosy cinema area. The Master bedroom is en-suite, there is a further guest bedroom and independent guest loo/shower room. The joinery, including the kitchen, was bespoke and designed completely in-house, allowing us to maximise the usability of the limited space available.
