Project 1434

The Siew-Sngiem Clock Tower & Sukum Navapan Gate are the latest in a string of projects that the practice has undertaken with Oxford University’s Harris Manchester College.

The overarching sentiment of the client’s brief was that the new building take on a significant architectural presence on the streetscape and to have, in their own words, “a jewel-like quality”. The project has been very well received in a particularly sensitive and historic location and received a commendation from the Oxford Preservation Trust in 2014.

The project included the construction of five new student bedrooms with accompanying en-suite facilities, a new ornamental clock tower with attendant clocks and mechanism and a new ornamental entrance gate on axis with the Arlosh Hall.
